General Facial Cupping Tutorial

Before You Begin

  • Always start with a clean face.

  • Pull your hair away from your face.

  • Ensure access to your décolleté.

Generously apply your favorite high-quality face oil to your face and décolleté, ensuring there's enough for the cups to glide smoothly without pulling too harshly. Use a clean towel to dry your hands afterward for a secure grip on your cups.

Before any facial cupping, always start with lymphatic drainage by stimulating the major lymph nodes. This step is crucial to enhance the detoxifying benefits of cupping.

  • Locate your Thymus Gland two fingers' width below the top of your sternum. Using the larger cup, perform the hold-and-release technique 3 times, then glide the cup from the thymus to your armpit 3 times.

  • Now locate the space between your collarbone and trapezius muscle. Hold-and-release there 3 times.

  • Below the ear lobe is another important lymph nodes area, called the Waterwheel

  • Hold release 3 times, then hold and release from the Waterwheel down your neck 3 times while avoiding the throat

  • Now locate the area under your chin, hold and release 3 times, then glide from under the chin to the waterwheel, and from the waterwheel to the base of the neck.

  • The final step is gliding from the thymus gland to your armpit again, 3 times.

  • Repeat everything on the other side.

Now we are ready to cup the face.

Cupping the Forehead :

  • Place the cup as low as possible between your eyebrows and glide up to your hairline 3 times. Don’t worry if you cannot reach too close to your eyebrows; we’ll address those areas later with the smaller cups.

  • Move to the medial half of your eyebrow and glide up 3 times.

  • From the top middle of your eyebrow, glide up 3 times.

  • And from the lateral half of your eyebrow, glide up 3 times.

  • Finish with hold and release on your temple 3 times.

  • Repeat on the other side.

Cupping the Lower Face :

  • Start under your chin and glide along your jawline towards your ear 3 times.

  • From the chin, glide towards your ear 3 times.

  • From the corner of your mouth to your ear, glide 3 times.

  • From the lower part of your nasolabial fold, glide to your ear 3 times.

  • Finally, from the upper part of your nasolabial fold — being careful not to get too close to your eye — glide to your ear 3 times.

  • Repeat on the other side.

From here, let’s move on to the smaller cups for the delicate and out of reach areas.

Eye Region :

  • Using the smaller cup, gently hold and release on your upper eyelid, just below your eyebrow, 3 times. This is a delicate area, so avoid gliding the cup here. If your eyebrows are low, you can hold them up slightly to create more space.

  • For dark circles and puffiness, hold and release under the edge your orbital bone—being careful to avoid cupping directly on your lower eyelid.

  • If you're concerned about frown lines or couldn’t reach the area between your brows with the larger cup, use the smaller cup to glide up and down that area.

  • You can also gently glide the smaller cup around your temples. Be careful not to overdo it, as the smaller cups can create powerful suction despite their size.

  • Repeat on the other side.

Lip Region :

  • Using the smaller cup, hold and release on your upper lip, moving from the center to the lateral 3 times, and glide over the same area, 3 times.

  • Repeat these same motions on your lower lip.

  • If you couldn’t reach the chin area with the larger cups, you can use the smaller cups here as well.

As you become more familiar with your cups and can achieve consistent suction with both hands, you can perform these moves on both sides of your face simultaneously. This feels great and will make your routine more efficient.

Finishing Touches :

  • To conclude my routine, I like to do some effleurage with my hands over my face and neck. This helps to integrate all the previous movements in a soothing way.

  • If your skin still feels a bit oily afterwards, gently dab your face with a tissue to absorb any excess.

Treat Cleanup as an essential a part of the ritual

  • Thoroughly cleaning your cups after each use will remove any buildup of oil and impurities.

  • Wash your cups with warm soapy water, using the small cleaning brush included in your case.

  • Allow them to air dry on a clean towel before storing them back in your case.
